| Obverse description | Central field dominated by a bold, sprawling Arabic tughra-style legend occupying the majority of the flan, reading the name and title of Sultan Mahmud II. The inscription is rendered in characteristic Ottoman calligraphic style, with flowing strokes characteristic of hammered provincial coinage. A beaded border encircles the periphery of the coin, partially visible due to the irregular flan. The overall strike is typical of provincial Ottoman hammered issues, with slight off-center placement and uneven depth. |
