Obverse description The national coat of arms of Mauritania occupies the central field, depicting a crescent and five-pointed star surmounted by a palm frond to the left and an unidentified branch to the right, all enclosed within a circular inner border. The Gregorian year '1973' appears at either side of the lower portion of the arms, with the numeral '1' below, and the denomination legend 'OUGUIYA' inscribed beneath. The circular legend 'BANQUE CENTRALE DE MAURITANIE' surrounds the entire design along the outer rim.

Reverse description The reverse bears the Mauritanian national emblem at center, featuring a crescent and star flanked by sprigs, with the Arabic denomination '١ أوقية' (1 Ouguiya) prominently displayed in the central field. The Hijri year '١٣٩٣' (1393 AH) appears within the design, while the circular Arabic legend 'البنك المركزي الموريتاني' (Central Bank of Mauritania) runs along the outer border, completing the inscription.
