| Opis awersu |
The winged Lion of Saint Mark, the emblematic symbol of the Ionian State, depicted passant to the right in high relief, wearing a nimbus and resting its forepaw upon a shield bearing a cross, with a bundle of arrows radiating behind. The circular Greek legend ΙΟΝΙΚΟΝ ΚΡΑΤΟΣ arcs around the upper field, and the date 1819 is inscribed at the bottom within a toothed border. The design reflects the classical Venetian heraldic tradition adapted to the British protectorate coinage of the Ionian Islands. |

| Opis rewersu |
Britannia seated to the left upon a rocky plinth, draped in classical robes, holding a trident upright in her right hand and resting her left hand upon an olive branch extending from the ground. A large Union shield leans against her right side. The engraver's initials W.W. for William Wyon appear in the lower exergue, and the legend BRITANNIA. arcs around the upper field within a toothed border, the whole executed in the refined neoclassical style characteristic of Wyon's work. |
