| Beschrijving voorzijde | Facing gorgoneion (Metus) rendered in archaic style, with a broad flattened visage, prominent eyes, and protruding tongue between bared teeth. The face is framed by serpentine forms curling outward on either side, characteristic of Etruscan artistic convention. The design fills the flan with bold, deeply struck relief. Vulci was among the wealthiest Etruscan cities of the fourth century BC, its prosperity built largely on bronze-working and a trade network stretching across the Mediterranean. That it struck silver at all is notable — most Etruscan cities relied on bronze coinage, and Vulci's silver issues were produced in limited quantities, almost certainly for specific transactional or prestige purposes rather than everyday exchange. The series is poorly documented, which explains the absent Vecchi-I reference number on this piece.
