| Beschrijving voorzijde | Crude, pearl-diademed and draped imperial bust rendered in a barbarous style, facing right. The surrounding legend is reduced to a series of repeated I-strokes, reflecting the illiterate imitation of a Late Roman or Vandal prototype. The flan is irregular and the relief is low, consistent with unofficial Germanic coinage of the early sixth century. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
These crude bronze pieces circulated in North Africa during the Vandal occupation, produced by groups operating outside the official Carthaginian mint hierarchy. The Vandals themselves issued recognizable nummi with royal monograms, but these imitative pieces — struck by uncertain tribal authorities or local opportunists — filled gaps in small-change supply where official coin simply didn't reach. Attribution remains genuinely contested; some scholars assign them to Moorish chieftains along the frontier, others to market-level forgery operations with no political mandate whatsoever.
