Descrizione del dritto	Brown intaglio vignette of Ștefan cel Mare (Stephen the Great), Prince of Moldova, in three-quarter portrait at left, wearing a jewelled crown, set against a fine guilloche underprint. To the right, the Moldovan state coat of arms — an eagle with a shield bearing an aurochs head — is enclosed within an ornate elliptical guilloche frame. The denomination UN LEU appears in large letterpress across the lower centre, with the issuing authority BANCA NAȚIONALĂ A MOLDOVEI in the upper border panel and the anti-counterfeiting legend along the lower border.

Descrizione del rovescio	The reverse is printed in brown and olive-green tones and presents two landscape vignettes side by side: at left, a panoramic view of a Moldovan monastery and rolling countryside rendered in reddish-brown intaglio; at right, a detailed engraving of the fortress of Soroca (or a comparable medieval Moldovan stronghold) with cypress trees in the foreground. A large white numeral 1 appears at the far left within a guilloche panel, and the denomination UN LEU is set in the lower border band. The header panel carries the inscription REPUBLICA MOLDOVA, while a vertical poetic quotation runs along the inner left margin.
