| Obverse description | Brown intaglio vignette of Ștefan cel Mare (Stephen the Great), Prince of Moldova, in three-quarter portrait at left, wearing a jewelled crown, set against a fine guilloche underprint. To the right, the Moldovan state coat of arms — an eagle with a shield bearing an aurochs head — is enclosed within an ornate elliptical guilloche frame. The denomination UN LEU appears in large letterpress across the lower centre, with the issuing authority BANCA NAȚIONALĂ A MOLDOVEI in the upper border panel and the anti-counterfeiting legend along the lower border. |
