| Description du revers | A crowned three-part heraldic shield bearing the combined arms of Denmark, Norway, and the Kalmar Union, flanked symmetrically by two branches — one of palm and one of laurel. Below the shield, a ribbon or band bearing the pendant of the Order of the Elephant intertwines with the lower portions of the branches. The pendant divides the four-digit date, with two numerals appearing to each side. Two lines of legend appear above the shield, the upper being the royal titles and the lower, set in a smaller character size, bearing the king's personal motto. |

Frederik V came to the Danish throne in 1746 following the death of Christian VI, whose austere pietism had suppressed court culture for decades. The new king's reign brought a deliberate loosening — artistically and politically — and the coinage reforms of the late 1740s reflect that shift toward a more confident, outward-facing monarchy. The Type 4 distinction within the 1748 Krone series traces to die modifications made during the year, producing measurable differences in the crown punch and lettering spacing that specialists use to sequence the emission order.
