正面描述 The upper portion of the note carries the bold red inscription REPUBLIQUE D'HAITI arching across the top, with a serial number to the upper left and series designation to the lower right. At center, the Haitian national coat of arms — a palm tree flanked by cannons and flags above a trophy of arms — is set within a circular guilloche vignette, beneath which the national motto LIBERTE EGALITE FRATERNITE runs in large letters. The lower portion contains a printed authorization text with three signature lines for the Delegue des Finances, Delegue du Commerce, and Delegue du Conseil d'Etat, above the denomination UNE GOURDE in the bottom margin.

背面描述 The reverse is dominated by a large central guilloche panel bearing the numeral 1 in bold, flanked on each side by ornate rosette medallions enclosing the numeral 1. A bold warning legend occupies the center of the main vignette. The denomination UNE GOURDE appears twice in the lower margin, left and right, and the numeral 1 is repeated in the upper center, all set against an intricate geometric lathe-work underprint.

备注

Haiti's 1916 issues came during the early years of the United States military occupation, which began in 1915 and would last until 1934. The Banque Nationale de la République d'Haïti had been placed under American receivership, and currency policy was effectively administered by the National City Bank of New York — an arrangement that generated considerable political friction and remains controversial in Haitian historiography.

The P#135 series was printed by the American Bank Note Company. Notes from this occupation-era period are frequently found with significant circulation wear, reflecting genuine use rather than hoarding.
