| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central device depicts the tripartite Rhenish electoral shield, combining the arms of the three ecclesiastical electors — Mainz, Trier, and Cologne — arranged within an interlaced trefoil or trilobe design, a composition characteristic of the Rhenish Goldgulden convention established by the Electoral Union. Each lobe contains one of the three electoral coats of arms in fine heraldic detail. A beaded inner border separates the central device from the outer circumferential legend, which reads in Gothic uncial script, identifying the coin as a new gold coinage. The reverse follows the standard Rhenish electoral gulden format introduced in the early fourteenth century. |
