The figure is rendered in the Gothic style typical of Rhenish and northern German goldgulden of the early 15th century, with drapery folds carefully articulated. A beaded inner circle frames the central image, beyond which the circumferential legend in Gothic uncial script reads MOnET nO HAMBVRGE, identifying this as a new coin of Hamburg. Pellet stops punctuate the legend at intervals. |
