The date appears in two parts — '19' to the left and '27' to the right — at the base of the trunk. The legend CONGO BELGE is divided across the lower portion of the field, arching along the bottom within a beaded border. The overall design conveys the colonial tropical identity of Belgian Congo in a bold, graphic style. |
