Aanvullende informatie

Rwanda's first national coinage followed independence in 1962 but took two further years to materialize, issued through the newly established Banque Nationale rather than through the Belgian colonial monetary framework that had previously governed the territory. The franc itself was a direct continuation of the Rwanda-Burundi franc, which collapsed as a joint currency once the two countries formalized their separation.

Both years of this short type were struck at the Brussels mint.
