Descrizione del dritto	The coat of arms of Rwanda occupies the central field, featuring a shield bearing a crossed bow and arrow over a stylized sun, flanked by two national flags on staffs, with a bird perched at the crest. The numeral '1' appears prominently above the arms in the upper field, flanked by the legend 'UN · FRANC' reading around the upper periphery. The national motto 'LIBERTE · COOPERATION · PROGRES' is inscribed on a scroll within the lower portion of the shield, with the inscription 'REPUBLIQUE RWANDAISE' on a banner across the upper part of the shield.

Informazioni aggiuntive	Rwanda's first national coinage followed independence in 1962 but took two further years to materialize, issued through the newly established Banque Nationale rather than through the Belgian colonial monetary framework that had previously governed the territory. The franc itself was a direct continuation of the Rwanda-Burundi franc, which collapsed as a joint currency once the two countries formalized their separation. Both years of this short type were struck at the Brussels mint.
