Descrizione del dritto	Left-facing effigy of King George V, depicted as a draped and uniformed bust wearing the Imperial State Crown, engraved by Edgar Bertram MacKennal. The king is shown with a short beard and military dress with epaulettes and decorations visible at the truncation. The peripheral legend reads GEORGIVS V REX IMPERATOR, with the initials B.M. appearing at the bust truncation. The design is set within a beaded border, with the portrait occupying the majority of the field in high relief.

Descrizione del rovescio	Central device featuring the quartered coat of arms of the Union of South Africa, supported by ornate scrollwork, with the four quarters displaying the emblems of the former colonies: the anchor and ship of the Cape Colony, the lion of Natal, the Voortrekker wagon wheel of the Transvaal, and the orange tree of the Orange Free State. The four-digit date is split either side of the shield, with the first two digits to the left and the last two to the right. The bilingual legend SOUTH AFRICA ZUID-AFRIKA arcs around the upper periphery, and the denomination FLORIN appears in the lower exergue, with small floral ornaments flanking the inscription. The whole is enclosed within a beaded border.
