| Beschrijving voorzijde | This hammered silver farthing, struck as a cut quarter-section of a penny flan, displays the characteristic wedge-shaped fragment typical of medieval Irish farthings produced by physically quartering a full penny. The obverse preserves a portion of the facing royal portrait, with visible lines suggesting the schematic crown and facial features rendered in the crude, formulaic style of 13th-century Irish coinage. Pellets and angular die-cut lines occupy the field, consistent with the Class 2a type. The irregular, fan-shaped planchet retains partial traces of the encircling royal legend, with letterforms from the inscription hENRICVS REX III fragmentarily visible along the curved edge. |
