Reverse description The reverse field is similarly filled with a multi-line Arabic legend in Naskh script, disposed in three horizontal registers across the irregular flan. The inscription reads 'mahmud shah muhammad shah bin al-sultan' (Mahmud Shah, son of Muhammad Shah, the Sultan), recording the ruler's name and dynastic lineage in the customary formulaic style of Sultanate-period copper coinage. A horizontal line divides the upper and lower portions of the legend. The strike is bold though slightly off-center, and the flan exhibits the same green-brown patination as the obverse.
