Victor II Friedrich ruled Anhalt-Bernburg from 1718 until his death in 1765, a reign long enough to see ducat production span three decades under his name. The Mann references here split across two catalog numbers, reflecting known die variation within the series — Mann#579 and Mann#587 are distinct emissions, likely separated by a revision to the portrait or titulature rather than a change in monetary standard.
Anhalt-Bernburg was among the smallest of the Anhalt partition states, and its gold output was accordingly limited. Ducats from this mint were struck in small quantities against a backdrop of chronic financial strain common to the minor German principalities of the period.
