The shield displays multiple heraldic divisions incorporating the characteristic eagle and bear devices of the Anhalt territories. The circular legend reads in abbreviated Latin, identifying the ruler as Victor Friedrich, by the grace of God Prince of Anhalt, Duke of Saxony, Angria, and Westphalia, Count of Ascania, Lord of Bernburg and Zerbst.
