Greece minted this drachma under the military junta that seized power in April 1967, meaning the majority of this date range was produced under a regime that had suspended the constitution and ruled by decree. Constantine II himself attempted a counter-coup against the colonels in December 1967; it failed within days, and he fled to Rome.
