Flanking the altar on both sides stand two mobed (Zoroastrian priestly attendant) figures, each facing inward toward the altar in the traditional manner. The overall composition faithfully reproduces the pagan Zoroastrian reverse iconography inherited through the Bukharan monetary tradition, despite the coin's Abbasid Islamic issuing authority. |
