The Hejaz dinar of 1923 was issued under Husayn ibn Ali at a moment when he was consolidating his position as King of the Hejaz and positioning himself as a pan-Arab leader following the collapse of Ottoman rule. The "Renaissance of Arab Lands" inscription reflected his ambition to lead a unified Arab political order — an ambition that collapsed entirely when Ibn Saud's Ikhwan forces swept through the Hejaz between 1924 and 1925, ending the Hashemite kingdom there permanently.
Husayn abdicated in October 1924. The dinar series effectively died with the kingdom, making the entire gold issue short-lived and produced in small quantities.
