| Reverse description | Central design depicts a detailed architectural rendering of the ancient Babylonian ziggurat (Tower of Babylon), shown in three-quarter perspective with its characteristic stepped, tiered structure and a prominent central stairway ascending to a shrine at the summit. The tower occupies the majority of the field, rendered in fine relief against a smooth background. To the left appears the Hijri date '١٤٠٢هـ' and to the right the Gregorian date '١٩٨٢م', flanking the monument. The reeded border follows the decagonal outline of the flan. |

| Additional information |
Iraq's 1982 coinage was produced during the third year of the Iran-Iraq War, a conflict that would drain the country's finances for the better part of a decade. The Central Bank maintained normal coin production through much of the war's early phase, before economic pressure and metal shortages increasingly disrupted output in later years.
KM#164 is not a scarce type, but the nickel composition was abandoned in subsequent issues as wartime costs bit harder.
