The imperial name and title of Emperor Akbar appear prominently in the upper two lines, with the mint name Ajmer (Zarb Ajmer) below, and the Hijri regnal year in the third line. The flan is thick, irregular and polygonal in outline, consistent with the hand-hammered production technique employed at the Ajmer mint during the late Akbari period. Surface wear and patination are evident throughout, with green cuprite deposits in the recesses. |
