The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detail on the hair and drapery. The legend ISLE OF MAN arcs along the left periphery and ELIZABETH II along the right, both in raised Latin capitals. Bounty, a fully-rigged three-masted sailing vessel, rendered in fine detail with elaborate rigging and hull ornament, positioned to the left of centre; the ship's name H.M.S. BOUNTY is inscribed beneath the vessel in the exergue area. To the right, an oval cameo portrait presents a bust of Fletcher Christian in period naval attire and brimmed hat. Seabirds are shown in flight above the scene. The design is framed by a rope-and-chain border, with the legend MANX MARITIME HERITAGE arcing across the upper field and ONE CROWN along the lower, flanked by decorative scroll motifs at each side. |
