| Obverse description | Bare truncated bust of a helmeted soldier in right profile occupies the central field, the helmet rendered with a broad brim and raised crest in a primitive but expressive engraving style characteristic of Philippine revolutionary emergency coinage. A circular legend reading REPUBLICA FILIPINAS surrounds the effigy along the upper periphery, with the date 1899 positioned in the lower exergual area.
