Obverse description The rampant lion of the Netherlands, crowned and armed, occupies the central field, depicted in high relief against a hatched background interspersed with billets. The lion brandishes a sword in its right forepaw and grasps a bundle of arrows in its left, emblematic of the Dutch coat of arms. A beaded inner border frames the central device, with the circular legend KONINGRIJK DER NEDERLANDEN arching around the upper periphery. The date 1943 is inscribed along the lower rim, flanked by decorative stops, with the Philadelphia mint mark P visible to the right of the date.
