Beschrijving voorzijde Bust of Ferdinando I (Ferrante) of Naples facing right, depicted in a crude but characteristically late-medieval hammered style. The effigy occupies the central field, showing the king with a distinctive profile and what appears to be a simple crown or diadem. The circumferential Latin legend FERRANDVS REX runs around the periphery, partially separated by a beaded inner border. The die workmanship is typical of the L'Aquila mint output of the second half of the fifteenth century, with irregular flan edges and uneven strike pressure evident.

Beschrijving keerzijde A prancing horse passant to the right occupies the central field, rendered in a bold, somewhat schematic style consistent with hammered coinage of the Aragonese Kingdom of Naples. The horse stands above a horizontal ground line dividing the field. The circumferential Latin legend EQVITAS REGNI, with a mint mark or initial T for the L'Aquila mint, runs around the periphery, separated from the central device by a beaded inner border. The denomination name Cavallo (horse) is directly reflected in this equine type, which served as the emblematic device of this series throughout Ferdinando I's reign.
