Beschrijving voorzijde	The obverse features the four-character reign title legend cast in regular script (kaishu), arranged in the traditional cross pattern around a central square hole: 道 (Dào) at top, 光 (Guāng) at right, 通 (Tōng) at bottom, and 寶 (Bǎo) at left, reading top-right-bottom-left. The characters are bold and well-formed, rendered in raised relief against a flat field, with no decorative border other than the plain outer rim. The central square perforation is neatly defined by a raised inner rim. This layout follows the canonical format for Qing dynasty cash coins issued under the Daoguang Emperor (r. 1821–1850).
