Additional Arabic legends fill the lower field, rendered in the characteristic bold script of Yemeni Zaydi coinage. The marginal legend, rendered in bold Arabic script, reads around all five sides of the pentagonal flan and records the mint name Sanaa, the denomination (eighth), and the Islamic profession of faith. The overall design is typical of Yemeni Imamate coinage, with a confident, hand-engraved quality to the lettering. |
