| Obverse description | The obverse displays a densely composed field of ornate Arabic calligraphy in the Thuluth script, filling the entire coin surface. The central legend reads the name and titles of Imam Yahya ibn Muhammad Hamid al-Din, rendered in flowing, interlaced strokes that overlap and interweave across the field. A prominent crescent-shaped cartouche frames the upper portion of the inscription, enclosing the Hijri regnal date 1322. The entire design is bordered by a tight inner rope border and an outer toothed (reeded) rim, characteristic of Yemeni coinage of the period. |
