Karim Khan Zand never took the title of Shah, ruling instead as Vakil al-Ra'aya — regent of the people — a deliberate political posture meant to distinguish his regime from the Safavid dynasty he nominally claimed to serve. This quarter mohur was struck during the period when Esfāhān, once the Safavid imperial capital, functioned under Zand administration while Shiraz remained Karim Khan's actual seat of power. The Type C designation reflects a die revision within his coinage sequence, though the Esfāhān mint's output in gold was modest compared to Shiraz throughout his reign.
