| Reverse description | Central field bears a three-line Arabic inscription within an open wreath of olive branches tied at the base, reading 'ضرب / تونس / ١٢٨٩' (meaning 'Struck in Tunis / 1289'). The AH date 1289 appears prominently in the lower portion of the inscription. The wreath branches extend symmetrically from a bow at the base and terminate in berried tips at the upper register, framing the legend in a style characteristic of Tunisian Husainid-era coinage issued under joint Ottoman and Bey suzerainty. |
