Obverse description Central short cross pattée set within a beaded inner circle, the arms of the cross extending to the circle's edge. Two concentric legends in uncial Gothic lettering surround the central motif, separated by a beaded border: the inner legend reads the duke's name and title, while the outer legend reads 'SIGNUM CRUCIS' (Sign of the Cross). The overall design is characteristic of the Brabantine groat series, executed in the hammered technique with slightly irregular flan edges.
