The upper register bears a prominent multi-stroke legend in large thuluth characters, while the lower register carries a cursive naskh inscription identifying the sultan's name, Muhammad. A dotted or dashed line separates the two registers near the lower margin, a characteristic device found on late Mamluk fractional silver coinage. The die engraving is deeply cut, producing well-raised lettering against a flat, undecorated field typical of Burji Mamluk monetary production. |
