| Description de l’avers | The obverse displays the original type design of the Muscat and Oman 1/4 Anna issue, bearing the peripheral legend 'FESSUL BIN TURKEE IMAM OF MUSCAT AND OMAN' in Latin script, with the Arabic date ١٣١٥ (AH 1315) and the denomination '1/4 ANNA' in the field. A large approximately 10mm Arabic countermark reading 'مسقط' (Muscat) has been applied prominently to the obverse field, partially obscuring the underlying design. The countermark is incuse and was applied by order of the Said dynasty to validate or restamp earlier KM#3 and KM#8 coinage for continued circulation. The coin shows considerable wear and verdigris patination consistent with extended circulation use. |

In 1932, Said bin Taimur had just acceded to the throne of Muscat and Oman following the abdication of his father Taimur bin Faisal, who had grown exhausted by the financial chaos and British creditor pressure bearing down on the sultanate. Rather than mint entirely new coinage, the administration applied countermarks to existing quarter anna stock — a practical expedient for a treasury under strain. The large 10mm punch distinguishes this application from later countermark varieties catalogued under C#20.2.
