| Reverse description | The reverse features a central inscription within a wreath, reading in Arabic 'عمان فيصل بن تركي سلطان' (Oman, Faysal bin Turki, Sultan), enclosed by a decorative foliate wreath border. The overall design is typical of the struck coinage of Muscat and Oman issued under Sultan Faysal bin Turki. The reverse field shows heavy patination and green encrustations consistent with long-term copper corrosion. No countermark is visible on this side. The wreath motif frames the inscriptions in a style common to late 19th-century Gulf coinage. |

| Additional information |
In 1932, Said bin Taimur had just acceded to the throne of Muscat and Oman following the abdication of his father Taimur bin Faisal, who had grown exhausted by the financial chaos and British creditor pressure bearing down on the sultanate. Rather than mint entirely new coinage, the administration applied countermarks to existing quarter anna stock — a practical expedient for a treasury under strain. The large 10mm punch distinguishes this application from later countermark varieties catalogued under C#20.2.
