| Obverse description | The obverse field is entirely occupied by a multi-line Devanagari inscription denoting the denomination (Paav Aana, i.e. quarter anna) and the Samvat date 1945, enclosed within a dotted inner circle. A continuous circular Devanagari legend naming the issuing state of Gwalior and the ruler Madho Rao runs along the periphery, separated from the central inscription by the beaded border. The overall design is purely epigraphic, with no figurative or symbolic devices, characteristic of the coinage of the Scindia rulers of Gwalior. |
