| Obverse description | A naval seascape occupies the field, depicting a sailing vessel tossed upon turbulent waters to the right, with windswept cypress trees lining the shore. At center, the armorial achievement of the Bánfi family is prominently displayed: a shield bearing two skulls resting upon a cushion, supported on either side by rampant griffins. The composition conveys allegorical symbolism of peril and protection, rendered in a Baroque engraving style characteristic of early 18th-century Transylvanian medallic art. The circumferential Latin legend and die-sinker's initials SD KK G.S. appear along the border. |
