Aanvullende informatie

Alamgir II was a Mughal emperor in name only — real power rested with the Maratha confederacy and later with Imad-ul-Mulk, the wazir who would eventually have him murdered in 1759. The Bombay Presidency's decision to strike in his name was purely commercial: Mughal-denominated coinage remained the trusted medium of trade across the subcontinent, and the East India Company understood that issuing anything outside that framework would invite market resistance.

The 1759 cutoff aligns almost exactly with his assassination.
