Obverse description Uncrowned left-facing effigy of King George VI, modelled by Thomas Humphrey Paget, occupies the central field. The king is depicted with a bare head, his natural hair neatly combed, and a truncated, draped bust. The engraver's initials 'HP' appear discreetly below the bust truncation. The surrounding legend 'GEORGIVS SEXTVS REX' arcs around the upper periphery in bold serif capital letters. The design is enclosed by a fine toothed border.
