| 背面描述 | Within a wreath of palm fronds tied at the base with a ribbon bow, the denomination is displayed in four lines across the central field: the fraction '1/2' above 'NEU-GUINEA' and 'MARK', with the date '1894' below. The mint mark 'A' for the Berlin Mint appears in the lower field beneath the wreath. The legend 'NEU-GUINEA COMPAGNIE' curves along the upper periphery, with the whole design bordered by a beaded inner rim. |

The Neu-Guinea Compagnie was a chartered trading corporation granted administrative authority over German New Guinea in 1885, one of the more unusual experiments in privatized colonial governance. When Berlin finally revoked the company's administrative charter in 1899 and transferred control directly to the imperial government, this coinage — produced in just two denominations across a handful of years — became immediately obsolete. The entire issue was struck at the Berlin Mint in very small quantities for a territory where barter and trade goods often moved commerce more effectively than European coin.
The 1894 date is the only year for this denomination, with a mintage of just 10,000 pieces.
