| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central field displays a quartered shield of arms dominated by a rampant lion, characteristic of the Luxembourg heraldic tradition, set upon a long cross that extends to the beaded inner circle and divides the surrounding legend. The shield is rendered in a plain Gothic style consistent with the modest denomination. The circumferential legend in uncial Latin characters reads MONE NOVA ANNO 150Z, proclaiming the coin as new currency of the year 1502. The reverse design, though simply struck, reflects the administrative assertion of monetary authority by Philip the Handsome over the Duchy of Luxembourg. |
