The denomination mark II II flanks the anchor horizontally at mid-shank, indicating the half-dollar value in terms of bits. The date 1822 appears in the lower exergual area, and the circular legend COLONIAR: BRITAN: MONET: runs around the periphery, abbreviated from the full Latin colonial monetary inscription.
