Reverse description Central device consists of a large admiralty anchor with a rope entwined around its shank, surmounted by a Tudor-style royal crown with orb finial, the whole rendered in bold relief against a plain field. The denomination mark II II flanks the anchor horizontally at mid-shank, indicating the half-dollar value in terms of bits. The date 1822 appears in the lower exergual area, and the circular legend COLONIAR: BRITAN: MONET: runs around the periphery, abbreviated from the full Latin colonial monetary inscription.
