Obverse description At center, an ornate crowned tournament helmet is displayed above a curved heraldic shield bearing the arms of Zwolle, the shield flanked by a beaded inner circle. A small figure of Saint Michael, depicted wielding a sword, surmounts the crown above the helmet. The date, where present, appears at the bottom below the shield, oriented inversely with respect to the surrounding legend. The design is executed in the bold, relief-heavy style characteristic of hammered Dutch municipal coinage of the early seventeenth century.

Reverse description A crowned double-headed imperial eagle occupies the full field within a beaded inner circle, its wings displayed and an orb on its breast. The eagle is rendered in the flat, stylized manner typical of hammered Holy Roman Empire coinage, with the crown bridging the two heads at the top. The surrounding legend names the reigning Emperor Matthias I, affirming the coin's status as an imperially sanctioned municipal issue.
