The John T. Essberger is a decommissioned ocean-going rescue cruiser operated for decades by the Deutsche Gesellschaft zur Rettung Schiffbrüchiger (DGzRS), now on static display at Technik Museum Speyer. The DGzRS operates entirely on donations — no government funding — which made the vessel's working life unusual among European maritime rescue infrastructure.
