Additional information

Korkyra — modern Corfu — occupied an unusually strategic position on the Adriatic trade routes, and the island's bronze coinage of this period reflects a municipal economy largely independent of mainland Epeiros despite nominal regional ties. The city had been a Corinthian colony since the 7th century BC and retained a fierce commercial identity, periodically allying with Athens, Sparta, or whoever best served its mercantile interests.

Production spans roughly seven decades, ending as Illyrian pressure and the encroachments of Rome began reshaping the western Greek world entirely.
