Obverse description Central motif of a bunch of grapes in three lobes, suspended from a branch bearing a single leaf to the left and a tendril to the right. The design is rendered in confident low relief typical of Bar Kokhba coinage, struck over an earlier Roman denarius host coin. The Hebrew legend appears in the field surrounding the grape cluster. The overall composition is characteristic of the nationalist iconography adopted by the Bar Kokhba revolt administration.
