| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse field is entirely occupied by a bold, calligraphic Ottoman Turkish inscription in multiple horizontal lines, rendered in a fluid thuluth script. The upper portion bears the royal epithet and the sultan's name, while the lower register carries the mint name 'Kostantiniyye' (Constantinople) separated by a horizontal line, with the Hijri regnal year 1187 inscribed beneath in Arabic numerals. Decorative foliate and rosette ornaments are interspersed between the lines of text, enhancing the formal palatial character of the design. The whole is enclosed within a finely executed reeded border of uniform beading. |
